Biology Students Visit
Southside Baptist Christian School
Bringing Science to Life!

Dr. Paula Lessem, Director of Biological Laboratories at the University of Richmond has developed an interactive series of labs that she and her students will be doing with students in grades 3-12.  Initiated in the Fall of 2008, Dr. Lessem and her students were on site twice a month conducting experiments with our students.  This was an opportunity for SBCS students to see with their eyes and touch with their hands all that they were learning in their science classes.  Becuase of the great success of the program, it has now become a permanent part of the school's science curriculum.

It seems the Science Department at the University of Richmond has "adopted" the student body of SBCS. Dr. Paula Lessem and her Biology 101 students have had several opportunities to work with the students at SBCS both on-site and in the university's science lab.  Nick Mider, a reporter for The Collegian, did a wonderful article for the university newspaper praising the efforts and outreach of the UR students and faculty.
